To Much Booze

No more drinking at birthday parties. I am a candyass that I get drunk on Disaranno amaretto. I'm sure I'm misspelling things, but I am tipsy and feel I can make typos and spelling mistakes and still remain...

I forget.

Folks, if you have not logged into Second Life I urge you to do so. Be warned. It will waste a good deal of your time. Also, there is a Firefly community, the crappy little town named after Hoban Washburne. It's built by residents, populated by residents, and the RP revolves around the residents interactions with one another. I built my own house and rent a plot of land there for my avatar to live.

Second Life is free. You go to secondlife.com and create an account, which involves naming your avatar. You give the avatar a first name and you choose from a list of second names. VERY IMPORTANT: Use a capital letter for the first name or inworld you'll be considered one of those wankers not smart enough to use the shift key. Your will appear as you type it. I'd also recommend you avoid numbers as this isn't an IM service, but a very realistic avatar you'll use to interact with other avatars inworld. Numbers sort of add to the noobiness (new avatar which isn't considered a good thing most of the time as you'll be tore up from the floor up until you get help from someone who has been inworld for a while) and wankiness of your character.

I also recommend you add a credit card to your account because you'll want to buy things. Clothes. OMG. Clothes. You'll want to dress up your Ken or Barbie and I warn you now that this is going to be a huge huge addiction. Hair. I own lots of hair. I love hair. I love hair almost as much as I love clothes.

Beyond the Firefly community, there are other sims to play in from urban ghettos to metropolis-type cities with an array of fantasy characters from human to Neko to vampire and werewolf. The fun part of Second Life is that you get to explore these places and find a sim that works for you, while developing your avatar into a character that is entirely your own.

If you want to come by and see me inworld leave me a comment and I'll give you the info via e-mail. The only thing I ask of you is that you do NOT mention this journal or my fanfiction in open chat once you are inworld. I RP with a couple of RL (real life) friends and they have no clue that I write fanfic or even have this journal and I don't want to deal with them knowing. That said, friend me inworld and I'll help you get rid of the noobiness of your avatar, show you the best places to buy clothes, hair, shoes, and get quality freebies. For about $10 US dollars you can buy about 2589 Lindens--which is the inworld cash used for all transactions. I recommend you buy $20US to get your avatar set up properly. After that, you just buy Lindens when you need them. If you don't plan to have land or a house, don't be surprised if you spend most of the money on clothes and hair for your avatar.

So, in the last 8 or so months I've been working like crazy. In a valiant attempt I tried to unload all 15,000 books in my basement. I think I'm nearing the halfway mark on those. I painted the interior of the house, threw away, gave away, and garaged saled everything that I had absolutely no use for. It turns out that you really don't need a lot of things to be happy. Imagine!

I also got immersed heavily into Second Life, where I got the building bug. Hello, I am a texture whore. How are you?

See, I didn't intend to get into Second Life, but I signed up one day (it didn't help that it was free) and I created an avatar and then I started buying things inworld and OMG, clothes and shoes and hair and skins...

Okay, pulling back some. Deep breath. Let it out.

And then I started wondering how hard it would be to build things and I started messing around with prims and the next thing you know I built a house. And another one. And a trailer house. And...

Okay, pulling back some. Deep breath. Let it out.

So, between knuckling down and cleaning out my basement (including all the stuff from my sister-in-law's house) and Second Life, I've barely had a moment to breathe.

I also found a couple of Firefly sims! Shitfire and save the matches. Firefly sims with Firefly spaceships and Rim world communities. Is it any wonder that I've been eating the good crack?

I've also been writing like crazy on original stories. It's like a pipe opened and I've been flooded with ideas and characters and woah. I hope to have another manuscript making the rounds by the first of the year. Yay!

And, how have you guys been?

Okay, so it's been a while since I've been here. Crazy crazy life stuff. How are y'all? Everyone still writing? ;)

If I haven't friended you and you've requested, nudge me again. I think I got everyone, but it's been a while since I did this friends stuff. If you can see this post, then you're on my friends' list and can read the stories.

And, uh, yeah, I gotta finish that Inside story. (sheepish grin)

I'm going to friends lock my journal soon. Just giving a heads up to anyone who might be reading Blue.

I know this is just weird and wanky of me; I don't regret writing Blue, but it's making me itch being out there. I'm very strange that way. I'm an intensely private person and no one in real life knows I write, or that I even remotely dabble in fanfic. This would likely horrify some of them, and while I don't particularly give a rat's ass what people think of me, I do try to keep my life as simple as possible. I know there is little chance that friends or family would find this diary, but OMG, how many times have I comforted myself with similar words and OMGWTFBBQ!!??!! someone is knee-deep into my sekrit fannish life.

Sigh. I'm a git. Ignore me.

eta: if you still want to read Blue just let me know and I'll friend you so you can see the posts.

eta X 2: If you want me to friend you to read any of the stories on my journal, please friend me first. That way I just have to friend you back.
